We have been looking at cam mechanisms and have designed toys with one or two moving parts. Our sawing and drilling must have been accurate because most of us found it easy to put the cam mechanism together inside our boxes. We hope you like our finished toys.
Now you can see our completed art work. We hope you like it!
We have been looking at the work of Peter Thorpe to inspire our abstract space art.

We had so much fun at Kirkham Grammar School when we went into their fantastic DT rooms and made our own jitter bugs. We used scewdrivers, PVA glue, different soft woods and drills. Learning the skill of soldering was a great challenge but we were up for it even if some of us were a little nervous. We loved watching and listening to our bugs jitter – not a quiet activity!
Many thanks to all the DT staff who helped us. It was a morning to remember.
We worked hard to get the right technique for stacking six cups. How do you think we got on trying to stack even more cups?
